It is our mission at Pizzeria 22 to pour our passion for Neapoliltan pizza into every pie we hand make from scratch.
Owner and pizziolo Cary Kemp grew up in the small Seattle suburb of Ballard. Many weekend's were spent taking public transportation to the very few pizzerias in Seattle: Abruzzi's downtown, Vince's Italian in Rainier Beach, and Paglacci's in the University District. His first introduction to pizza was working for Paisan on 1st in 1990. Eventually Mr. Kemp would study the art of Neapolitan Pizza at the famous Sorbillo pizzeria in Naple's, Italy on Via Tribunali. He brought his passion for old world pizza back to the Pacific Northwest and founded Inferno Catering, the Pacific Northwest's first authentic Neapolitan mobile wood fired pizza catering company. Eventually, Mr. Kemp realized that Seattle's largest community was in need of a wood fired pizzeria and began building Pizzeria 22 in West Seattle in 2010.
